What Do Your Astrological Placements Mean?

.
When first diving into the world of astrology it can be very intimidating with all the new terminology and intricacies. I want to help my readers and those who are new to astrology understand their own placements better by defining some terms as well as sharing my own birth chart as an example. Everyone has a birth chart which can be found on numerous apps and websites based off of birth date, time, and place and is translated into your signs, planets, and houses which all work together in various combinations. Planets in certain signs (for example my sun is in Pisces) essentially means that at the time of your birth that planet was in the section of the sky where said zodiac sign's constellation lies. Now to add another level, there are twelves houses that rotate along this cycle which also adds a new meaning to each combination of planet, sign, and now house. For my visual learners, I like to think of it as two sets of wheels that work together and overlap to punch out a code and that code would be the translation into a meaning of that specific combination
Signs: For the purpose of this post I will not be including meanings of each zodiac sign as I have previously written about these and I want to keep this to the point.
Planets: Astrology as a whole is based off of planets and their movements and they each tell a story so when put together these movements provide information on who we are.
Sun- basic identity
This is your star sign and who you are as a whole throughout life.
Moon- inner emotions
The moon symbolizes who you are at heart and deal with emotions and intuition
Mercury- communication
A mercury placement dictates how you think and learn while also dealing with self expression.
Venus- affection
Venus is the planet of love and allure as well as self-value and material possessions.
Mars- energy
Anger and ambition are often associated with Mars as this placement will give you passion and drive to accomplish your goals.
Jupiter- expansion
Jupiter controls outer ideas such as travel, religion, and philosophy which challenge your belief systems and allow you to experience new things.
Saturn- hard work
Stability and hard work that pays off is represented by Saturn but it takes responsibility and discipline to achieve this.
Uranus- unexpected
Uranus holds the power to shocking events such as change, riots, revolution.
Neptune- dreamy
Spiritual dreaminess is encapsulated within Neptune but this can also mean idealism which can be deceptive.
Pluto- power
Unearthing hidden secrets as well as themes of rebirth and transformation.
Houses: There are 12 houses in astrology which each represent part of life and they are dictated based off of when you are born. Each planet was in a certain house, a sector of the sky if you will, at the time of birth.
1- Self Identity/First Impressions
Signs in the first house will represent how you are seen. I have both Capricorn and Aquarius in my first house which makes sense as Capricorn is my rising sign and Aquarius is my Neptune (as well as my whole generation) symbolizing the inspiration and drive to make lasting change. For my Neptune Aquarius to be in my first house means that this generation theme presented by Neptune during this time calls out especially strong to me.
2- Possession/Values
My sense of value, management of finances, and materialistic views come from my signs in the second house which happens only to be Pisces. I do have three planets in this house, (Sun, Uranus, and Mercury) but once again they are all in Pisces, so collectively my second house points to my drive towards self-employment and rebelling the tradition route.
3- Communication/Learning
The third house is key to understanding how you communicate with others and even yourself. My third house is in Aries (not proud of this one) so I tend to make conversations short and rather harsh without even thinking. If there is any house I would advise you to look into it would be this one because once I found mine out I could start to work on it and everything made sense.
4- Home/Family
Home and family is embodied by the fourth house and represents the energy you put into this idea and how you do it. My planet in this house is Mars which is in Taurus meaning I am assertive but not too aggressive with my ambitions and rarely make the first move. This suggests I put a lot of energy into my home and family.
5- Creativity/Play
I actually do not have any planets in my fifth house so this one is a little more difficult to write since I have nothing to relate it to, but it essentially stands for spontaneity and enjoyment of life. Whichever sign/planet is in this house will point to how you have fun and what is fulfilling to your soul.
6- Work/Health
Keeping up with responsibilities and being on schedule is determined by this placement and mine is Saturn (rules self-discipline and restrictions) in Cancer (emotions). This essentially means I let my emotions get in the way of keeping routine.
7- Relationships/Partnerships
The seventh house is what you need in a relationship and how to make these partnerships work. My Leo Moon is very emotionally dramatic and needs security from others through long term and very close relationships as I often crave validation and love from others.
8- Intimacy/Money
Eighth house is one of birth, death, and transformation which suggests how you may have the most success. My Jupiter in Virgo points to idealism and hard work going hand in hand to create a transformation that will give me said success.
9- Religion/Philosophy
Once again I do not have a ninth house but this one is very important as it dictates what your views on life and the unknown are. These are the controversial standpoints that make us unique including politics, religion, and overall philosophy.
10- Career/Reputation
Your tenth house is how you are going to be seen long term regarding career and reputation. Although I do not have anything in my tenth house personally I do have a great example as Taylor Swift has been portrayed by the media in a dark light for so long and she even has an album titled 'Reputation' to allude to this part of her life and when you look into her birth chart it all makes sense. Her Pluto (transformation, powerful energy) in Scorpio (one of the most misunderstood signs) is in the tenth house which aligns perfectly with this era where she was completely misunderstood so she underwent a great transformation.
11- Friends/Future Goals
My eleventh house is Sagittarius in Pluto (as well as my whole generation as it Pluto stays in a sign for 30 years) meaning that outdated standards are being transformed and replaces with positivity, free-spirits, and independent traits. This embodies Gen-Z very accurately.
12- Spiritual Lessons/Behind the Scenes
The Twelfth house is all of the in between stuff that makes you yourself that us not always show in direct light but gives you very valuable lessons. Look at this placement to see how you can grow as a person and be the best version of yourself.
I wrote this post off of request to dive into astrological placements more as they are the hardest to understand with many complexities. I hope this was helpful and feel free to leave and comments or questions!
