Don't Let Distractions Diminish Your Progress

As of yesterday, I am a senior in high school and so far every single fall semester I have watched my summer fruits shrivel and drop to accompany the leaves already lying on the ground. Summer brings me a greater inner peace that I have not been able to find during any other season, and the truth is that it is not the nice weather that keeps me spry, but the time. Having alone time is the single most important part of my life as then I can dive into my own self-development journey which tends to reflect on my productivity and creativity. My mind remains nourished in these months of constant vitamin d and I grow prized fruits that I intend to continue caring for throughout the forthcoming seasons, although cold-fronts are inevitable. It is still August, although the 31st, and I do not want to lose my summer's progress; I will build a green house.

School is an institution where it becomes hard to protect your energy while being surrounded by hundreds of contrasting auras that are constantly interfering with your own. Maybe that is why I lose myself and my motivation along with it, or the assignments steal my time of day to retract and get lost within my thoughts. With every leaf that falls, another empty page in the journal besides my bed lays abandoned.

I cannot figure out whether my progress diminishes because of the distractions, busy schedule, or weather, but I do know that I am done falling victim to it. I will build a greenhouse.

How?

Routine is the most important part of keeping life in order; containing all the odds and ends of a busy life with a nice ribbon tied into a bow clears the path for your own activities. To continue working on yourself while also working hard on school or work is to understand the balance of the Classical and Romantic worlds.

Classicism: emphasizes order and reason

Romanticism: emphasizes feelings and emotions

These are two very separate ideas that people often try to identify along with just one of, but the key to mastering life itself is to balance them both. For every business, there is both a finance and marketing team that works together to create a product. Applying the scenario to the correlation of going back to school and losing personal progress, for every homework assignment, there is a journal entry that could be written. The Romantic aspect does not have to be journaling, it could be writing a blog post (in my case), washing your face in the morning, eating healthy meals, working out, meditating, or whatever goals that you are currently working on.

I have come to the conclusion that in order to keep the same levels of serotonin in my brain during times of higher stress and more responsibility in comparison to the summer months. I must focus on the shades of grey in between the black and white like sunrises on the way to school and sunsets on the way home from work. Appreciating little moments will generally increase happiness in life and therefore keep motivation, creativity, and progress steadily flowing. With the commitment to myself this fast approaching fall, I hope to continue posting on Lost in Thought more frequently because if I have time for anything, it should be my passions.
